We have new lead-light glass in our front door. I have waited many years to fulfil this wish and at last the opportunity was realised. On our way home we often stop at the lights by an old building that displays traditional cut glass items, one day we drove round the back, parked and entered, that was all it took. I had seen a geometric window when passing earlier and knew instantly that was what I wanted. Martin's concerns were mainly for the structure, durability, suitability and function. All question were answered. It is made up of clear glass, antique pieces, patterns that are out of production and a few modern ones. Upper photo is from the front and the delight is looking out from inside - always changing,(lower)

I think I should have edited this photo, cropped it, straightened it... etc but this is as I took it. I love the lines, the light to dark, maybe I should have walked further away to get more in. I suppose I took this for a reason, is it the detail? The freshly refurbished Auckland Art Gallery.

The building opposite the main Art Gallery entrance, ground floor has commercial galleries etc and after examining the photo I think the space above must be offices rather than accommodation.

Perhaps I shouldn't have tried to take this, with no tripod, lots of passing people, low light and me not knowing much. Don't talk about white balance please! However I did, so here it is.

This photo is a mistake, taken with manual focus (thought it was on auto) as I rushed to click, before the crocodile of school children went past. I am in the art gallery with no evidence of hanging work.

As I sat outside the gallery, waiting for Mart, who bless him went back to the car park to collect the car,  I had time to  look around the inner city architecture.

James Wallace Art Centre is housed in this elegant homestead, built about 1877. Pah house is still in almost original condition and has recently opened to the public, it is delightful to wander through the galleries and stroll in the gardens.

Part of the Russian Bell tower, we didn't ring the bell which can just be seen on the left. We couldn't find the tower on the direction map erected in the park, we could see it from some paths, and this is proof that it was there and Chris found it.

This house in Jubilee Avenue made me stop and take a photograph. I think it has had some recent renovation, there used to be a wall along the front in keeping with the front steps, it has gone and I think it's the better for it. For me it seems to sit very well on the land. This is early in the morning and the inhabitants have not flung the windows up yet.

It's a sad feeling when there is no one left to answer the questions, even when it only matters to you. Light and shadow, changing imperceptibly, I am wanting to measure the lines and pencil in my day on the wall. Sort of similar to making a mark that I was here. Could this be graffiti?

A damp morning, not quite raining, and early enough to be before people are up or have had breakfast, the only ones out and about are half awake and being pulled by their dogs. Or they carry a leash and call businesslike to the blur in the distance racing to the next blur, 'Harry come here'. Harry doesn't hear. It good to see a well maintained chimney.
